What is SHAC?

The Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) is a student-led organization that focuses on promoting and advocating for health and wellness at CSUDH. SHAC typically consists of students from various backgrounds and grade levels who are interested in improving the overall health and well-being of their peers.

The main purpose of SHAC is to provide a platform for students to address health-related issues and concerns on campus. The committee works closely with Student Health Services staff and administrators to develop and implement initiatives and programs that promote healthy lifestyles, disease prevention, and overall well-being.

SHAC members often engage in activities such as promoting Student Health Services, organizing health awareness campaigns, hosting workshops and seminars, conducting surveys to assess student health needs, and collaborating with local health organizations and professionals to bring valuable resources and services to the student body.

By actively involving students in decision-making processes regarding health policies and programs, SHAC helps to ensure that the student perspective is considered and prioritized. This empowers students to take ownership of their own health and fosters a supportive and healthy environment within CSUDH.

Commitment

If you would like to be involved in promoting student well-being, raising awareness about health-related issues, and advocating for positive changes that contribute to a healthier and happier educational community, join SHAC.

SHAC members commit by:

  • attending monthly SHAC meetings
  • assisting in outreach and collaborative events on campus
  • contributing to improving the health and well-being of CSUDH students
